It was assigned from new to Newcastle and Gateshead headquarters fire station at Pilgrim Street in the city centre. In April, 1974 it became part of the new Tyne & Wear Metropolitan Fire Brigades fleet and was repainted red. Later operating in the reserve fleet it was withdrawn and sold in 1987.
